Fools for Christ

Somebody's got to do it …
1. but it ain't gonna be me.
2. So I'll do it.
Two different attitudes toward community needs.
"Let us not become weary of doing good. For at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Gal. 6:9
Here in Ecuador lies a fine line between being a servant and being a fool. If you do community service you may well be seen as a fool. Most people say, "That's not my job."
This week they paved the road in front of our house. The side road needed repairs. As a result they left a huge pile of rock and dirt in the middle of the side road.
My goal is to serve the neighborhood and thus get to know the people better. I'm convinced people want to see the Christian life in action. So with the help of Jorge, who lives with us, we backed my pickup truck up to the pile and began to shovel the rocks and dirt into the truck. Two neighbors came out to help. It took two loads to clean up the road.
Am I a servant of Christ or a fool?
Jesus came to serve, not to be served. Mk 10:45
I pray the neighbors will see Christ in me.
