Will you be our godfathers?

Edgar called me one morning at 6am. "Will you be our godfathers in our wedding?" "When?," I asked. "Next Saturday." Edgar had been one of my students a while back. His request surprised me, and we felt obliged to accept, not knowing exactly what we were getting into. He lives in a small town between the Highlands and the Flatlands of Ecuador. It took us six and a half hours to reach the town of "Moraspungo." Once there, we realized his real request was to help him organize the wedding ceremony, which was fairly simple and straightforward. Another pastor, who drove from Quito, conducted the ceremony. We hope to stay in touch.
